An ActiveKidz Dance & Play session is broken down into 2 halves:
- Dance
- Active Play
At ActiveKidz we feel the combination of the dance and play is particularly successful as it incorporates all the benefits of dance with the importance of play.
Importance of Play
Play is a very important part of your child’s life and has an essential role in their development. It contributes to their cognitive, physical, social and emotional well being. Many experts in childhood development regard play as the ‘work’ of children as it is constantly teaching them new skills and challenging their mind.
Play is a fundamental part of a child’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional progression. Through play, children can experiment and learn about themselves, socialise and mix with others and develop into healthy rounded individuals.
Our structured play sessions are used to encourage children to learn new skills and help them to explore their world and the environment they are in.
Types of Play
As children develop they engage in different types of play. Our ActiveKidz Dance & Play sessions are carefully tailored to involve play that is both enjoyable and educational for preschool children. We believe play is the most natural way to learn and specifically encourage:
Elaborate pretend and role play games to help toddlers and pre-schoolers learn social rules and develop their social skills.
‘Rough and tumble’ games that involve lots of energy to help active toddlers develop physical skills such as skipping, hopping, jumping etc.
Growing children seem to have an almost endless capacity for active play and of course this physical activity is important in the development of co-ordination and the growth of large muscles.
Children love it when their parents play with them. ActiveKidz encourage parents to join in with all our dances and games and often find that the parents enjoy it more than the children! Whether your child is shy and needs your reassurance or confident and independent nothing inspires a child more than their mum or dad joining in and having fun!
